Congratulations to the Youth Speaks’ teams – Winners!
A huge congratulations to the Intermediate and Senior Youth Speaks’ teams who won the Local heat of the Rotary International public speaking competition on Tuesday 12th January. Both teams were exceptional and delivered rousing presentations to a challenging audience at Llanelli Town Hall Chambers and we are very proud of the pupils and their success in this competition thus far!
The Senior team’s presentation was titled ‘Should Britain really accept migrants from Syria?’ and is comprised of Joseph Toft as Speaker, Grace Francis as Chairperson and Hannah Short as Proposer of the Vote of Thanks, with both Joseph and Grace winning individual prizes for Best Speaker and Best Chairperson respectively – well done both!
The Intermediate team spoke on the concept ‘Is there a place for school uniform in 21st century education?’ and this team is made up of Rosie Baylis as Speaker, Sam Hartnoll as Chairperson and Mickey Williams as Proposer of the Vote of Thanks, who also worked effortlessly as a group to claim the Intermediate team prize – well done to all three of you!
Finally, Mr Daley and I would like to say a special thanks to Hannah Short for stepping in on the morning of the event and to Rosie Baylis for taking on the role of Speaker just six days ago! We are very thankful to you both and very lucky to work with six bright, diligent and driven pupils! We wish both teams every success in the Area Final on February 4th at Bishop Gore School in Swansea! Pob lwc!
